PolliConnect was recently presented in a radio and video programme dedicated to the situation of bees and pollinators in the Hauts-de-France region. The programme, titled “Frelons asiatiques, pesticides, comment se portent les abeilles des Hauts-de-France ?”, addressed several pressures affecting pollinators, including Asian hornets, pesticides and broader environmental change.

During the programme, Emmanuelle Leveugle, departmental councillor for Pas-de-Calais, introduced PolliConnect and explained the role of the project in supporting pollinator restoration in the region. Her intervention, from min ~ 23:30 to ~25:30, presented PolliConnect as part of a wider effort to respond to the decline of pollinating insects through practical, territorial action. The discussion was particularly relevant for the project because it connected PolliConnect to concerns that are already visible in the Hauts-de-France region. Pollinators are affected by multiple pressures, and their decline cannot be addressed by isolated measures alone. PolliConnect responds to this challenge by working across territories to improve ecological connectivity, test innovative habitat-management approaches and engage the actors who can influence landscapes in practice.

Through the involvement of the Département du Pas-de-Calais and project partners, PolliConnect helps bring together public authorities, land managers, farmers, educators and citizens around a shared objective: creating better conditions for wild pollinators and strengthening biodiversity across North-West Europe.
