PolliConnect has been highlighted by Europe en Hauts-de-France as an example of European cooperation supporting biodiversity and territorial resilience.
The article presents PolliConnect as a project responding to the decline of wild pollinators by restoring ecological connectivity and improving habitat management. Through eight living labs across six European countries, the project tests practical solutions such as adapted mowing practices, ecological corridors, improved management of natural spaces and innovative monitoring tools.
In Hauts-de-France, PolliConnect is being implemented in Pas-de-Calais with a strong educational and citizen dimension. Five French pilot sites are involved, including three schools in Ardres, Guînes and Licques, a departmental road and a municipal plot developed with local residents. These sites will help raise awareness, involve young people and test concrete actions for pollinator-friendly landscapes.
The article also underlines the value of European cooperation. Coordinated by the Flemish Land Agency in Belgium, PolliConnect brings together partners 13 partners from five EU countries. This transnational approach allows partners to share knowledge, compare practices and develop solutions that can be replicated at a larger scale.
By featuring PolliConnect, Europe en Hauts-de-France shows how European funding can support local action for biodiversity while helping territories respond to shared environmental challenges.
