We’re thrilled to announce that the POLLICONNECT project is setting up our first automated camera system in one of our living labs in Flanders, Belgium!
This cutting-edge setup is the result of a collaborative effort between UGent, Naturalis Biodiversity Center, and EFREI, who have worked together to bring smart technology into the field to monitor pollinator activity in real time.

#Pollinators are vital to biodiversity and food production, but their populations are under threat, automated camera systems allow us to monitor pollinator behavior and presence without disturbing their natural environment. With the data collected researchers aim to understand better how pollinators interact with different landscapes and mowing techniques so we can inform better different stakeholders on conservation strategies.
This installation marks the beginning of a new phase in our mission to connect science, technology, and nature. By combining AI-powered image recognition with ecological expertise, we’re building a smarter, more responsive way to protect pollinators across North-West Europe.
